PACTORES 2nd general assembly celebrated in Turkey

The 2nd general assembly of PACTORES took place in Antalya, Turkey at the premises of the Turkish Forest Service on the 25th and 26th of October.  The event was kindly hosted by our Turkish project partners from Suleyman Demirel University.

The project partners had the opportunity to present their work at the ISNOSMED Symposium on Silvopastoral Systems and Nomadic Societies in Mediterranean Countries, while getting a thorough overview of pastoralism and transhumance in Turkey. The symposium was complemented by a field trip around the beautiful landscapes of Isparta that included a visit to a couple of local shepherds. Check out the incredible photos taken during the assembly and excursions by some of the PACTORES colleagues (specific credit to Matteo Francioni and Mehmet Özmiş):

In the 9 months since PACTORES started, significant progress and achievements have been made. An exemplary highlight is the progress made toward the exhaustive mapping of regional, national, and European policies affecting pastoral communities across the case study regions. Furthermore, the official project website has been launched, wherein a complete overview of the project, scenic images from the partner countries, and updates regarding progress in the case studies can be found: www.pactores.eu

In the coming months, activities of Work Packages 2 and 3 (ecosystem services and economic assessment) will be running in full gear. We are eagerly looking forward to the results as they begin to roll in; stay tuned for more updates and exciting news!
